We’re looking for a highly skilled Automotive Shop Foreman who can lead by example, support our technicians, and ensure the service department runs with efficiency and integrity.
The Automotive Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, supporting technicians with diagnostics and repairs, ensuring timely workflow, and maintaining the highest level of quality and safety standards. This role is crucial in driving technician productivity, supporting employee development, and ensuring a smooth, customer-focused service experience.
Oversee daily operations of the service shop, ensuring efficient workflow and proper dispatching of repair orders.
Assign jobs to technicians based on skill level, availability, and shop capacity.
Monitor technician performance, productivity, and efficiency throughout the day.
Coordinate with the Service Manager and Service Advisors regarding job status, delays, or additional repairs.
Ensure all repairs meet dealership quality standards and OEM requirements.
Serve as the primary technical expert and point of escalation for complex diagnostic and repair issues.
Assist technicians with troubleshooting, advanced diagnostics, and proper repair procedures.
Provide hands-on support when needed to ensure timely completion of critical repairs.
Stay current with Chevrolet/GMC technical bulletins, recalls, and updated repair procedures.
Mentor, coach, and support technicians at all experience levels.
Conduct quality checks, repair validations, and post-repair inspections.
Provide guidance on safety practices, tool usage, and GM-specific systems.
Assist the Service Manager in identifying training needs and recommending development plans.
Participate in onboarding and training for new technicians.
Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, shop policies, and environmental standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
Review completed repairs for accuracy, safety, and compliance with factory specifications.
Support warranty processes by ensuring proper documentation, parts retention, and repair documentation accuracy.
Communicate effectively with Service Advisors and management regarding repair timelines, technical findings, and necessary resources.
Occasionally speak with customers about complex repairs when requested by the Service Manager.
Promote a positive, supportive, and teamwork-focused shop culture.
12+ years of experience as an automotive technician; GM experience strongly preferred.
ASE certifications and/or GM factory training highly desirable.
Strong diagnostic background with proficiency in electrical, drivability, and advanced repair procedures.
